I am the 3rd owner of this vehicle, acquiring it in July of 2019 when the second owner traded it in to the Ford Dealership that I worked at for a new 2019 BULLITT. She told me that many years earlier, she fell in love with the style of the 2008 BULLITT, but was a bit disappointed with its performance. That’s when she found a very pampered example that had a ROUSH Supercharger installed with just over 12,000 miles. This gave her the style and performance that she was looking for. She purchased this car located in Idaho and drove it back to Arizona where she drove it daily for the next 6 years. Her husband was an aircraft mechanic and performed most of the routine maintenance on the car. She told me that she felt the car needed a throatier sounding exhaust and after some experimentation, replaced the BULLITT rear mufflers for a set of Saleen mufflers. The car sounds amazing! The CarFax report shows a damage report on 11/24/2015. According to the second owner, she hit a small javelina, causing some minor damage down low on the left front. I replaced the lower grille that was missing when I got the car.I’ve not spoken to the original owner but it was obvious that this car was very special to him. It was built in May of 2008, making it one of the last BULLITT’s produced that year but was not sold until May of 2009. It’s unknown whether the ROUSH Supercharger was already dealer installed on the car, or if the first owner had that done after purchasing. While working at Ford I was able to pull up the Service history of the car and could see that the first owner had it serviced every 3-4 months, at times changing the oil that had only 5-600 miles on it. He also made some very subtle additions under the hood that show his love for the car, but left the classic external appearance just as delivered by Ford.
I wanted a BULLIT when the 2008 model came out, but with 2 boys in middle school and high school, it was a luxury that I could not afford. When this car became available, I knew that it was finally meant to be. This car is not perfect and if you’re the person that loves to tinker on the weekends, you’ll love this. In the 2+ years that I’ve owned this, I’ve put just over 3000 miles on the car. The car is amazing to drive and I would drive it across country tomorrow if needed. These cars did not come with a spare tire, instead Ford provided a can of flat repair and a small air compressor. My plan was to do some traveling with this car so I purchased a new BULLITT wheel from Ford, along with a matching Nitto tire, correct new jack, lug wrench and attaching hardware. I have replaced the spark plugs, properly gapped for the Supercharger, and just changed the oil and filter. The car does not leak or use a drop of oil.
Now here are some of the imperfections with the car. If you are familiar with this generation of mustang, and as you can see in the pictures, the inserts on both door panels have come loose and need to be reattached. This is a very common issue with many instructional videos on the internet. The rear bumper has been repainted and is showing cracks in the paint from bumping the garage, another vehicle??. There are quite a few chips/scratches on the front of the hood. Much of this would clean up with some touch up paint and a little dealing. The car was a daily driver and does have a few door dings. Again, some touch up, detailing and possibly a paint less dent removal guy would go along way. As you can see in the photos, the tinting on the back glass is bubbling and needs replaced. While I make this sound worse than it is, this is part of the beauty of this car. The car is very presentable and draws attention wherever I go, but is not so perfect that I am afraid to drive it. I work on Luke Air Force Base and try to drive the car to work at least once a week. I believe that the shocks are original and see that one of the rears is starting to leak. I also get an occasional clunk when going over a speed bump. The radio works great, am/fm/Xm, but the CD player does not work.
The car drives beautifully, the a/c works great, the clutch and 5 speed transmission work perfectly, and the low end power delivery of the 4.6 with supercharger is amazing. This is a car that you could drive everyday and enjoy tinkering with in your spare time if that is what you do.
Please contact me with any questions about the car. Another item that has started occurring recently is the blend door actuator in the dash clicks for a bit on initial startup. This is also a common problem with this generation mustang. Not a big deal but didn’t want to forget.
