Up for sale is a true gem. Here we have an unmolested, always adult owned 5.0 LX convertible. Purchased new in Ft Meyers FL where it spent a better portion of it's life. It then moved to Sarasota FL where it's second owner kept it for many years before trading it in for a new Jeep where it ended up at a national auction then to a Rhode Island dealer just two years ago. We purchased the car from the dealer in RI. As far as we know, this car has NEVER seen snow or road salt. It's condition explains that. This is a totally rust free Fox body Mustang. Clean undercarriage and shock towers! Having traveled just 87,000 miles, most of the car is original. It was repainted it's original color which is rarely seen on these, Light Titanium. The paint work was very well done. The interior is all original and in very good condition also.Fully equipped with an automatic transmission, full power options and COLD air conditioning. Aftermarket JVC CD player. No panels were cut or modified for the install and it works great. This car is a true survivor. Always adult owned and never abused as so many were. Mechanically sound. All new tires and front brakes, including rotors. Transmission fluid and filter change. All new tune up parts using only OE Motorcraft parts. Also a recent power steering pump. The car runs, drives and handles as you'd expect. The rear main seal does seep just a bit, leaving a small nickel size spot now and again but that's about it. The car does have a recent MagnaFlow exhaust installed which would be the ONLY modification to the car but a tasteful one. Gives a nice burble. We also replaced the original, clouded headlights with correct OE replacements to keep the stock look.
That being said, it's not a perfect car. Ford never intended for these to still be around 30 years later when they built them. The two small 1/4 windows work but need manual help to be raised and lowered from the master switch. The speedometer bounces from 0 to about 40 MPH before smoothing out. One small hole about the size of a dime on the drivers side seat bolster. The top is ORIGINAL and in good condition with no rips but shows some shrinkage as you'd expect. I'd leave alone.
Overall a great survivor in a car that will only appreciate in value as research shows. Any investment in clean, non abused examples will only pay you back in the future. I'd trust that over a 401K any day. Plus, these are way more fun to watch appreciate. Do some research. You'll be amazed at the selling prices. We are listing this at a bargain and it's sure to sell quick. I have a detailed walk around video of the car with it running I'd be happy to forward to serious buyers. Located just outside Boston, I encourage in person viewing but can easily assist and arrange shipping to anywhere. Ask questions. I'll respond quickly. PLEASE don't make an offer if you don't have the funds to complete the transaction. Get approval from your partner before bidding and if you have ZERO feedback, please send me a message before making an offer or it will be declined regardless. Thank you.
